Resident Spotlight: Chuck Jones
A Willow Care resident for 15 years, Charles “Chuck” Jones says our community feels like one big family. “It’s very family-oriented,” he said. Chuck loves to participate in all our activities, so his neighbors quickly became his friends.
Free of the responsibilities of working or maintaining a home now that he lives in our community, Chuck enjoys helping others and volunteering to help with the activities and other things around Willow Care. He says he’s always been a hard worker and loves making people happy. His hobbies include shopping, and he loves fancy cars.
THE Hannibal, Missouri Area Has Always Been Chuck’s Home.
He’s always lived in the Hannibal area. He was in the Navy for six years and then had a career providing insurance services to families in the area for 20 years. Chuck was active in several clubs and community groups before his retirement.
His family includes two brothers and one sister. Before the pandemic, Chuck’s brother visited him and other residents at Willow Care so often that some residents consider his brother family.
Friends would describe Chuck as a good guy, an immaculate dresser and someone who never knew an enemy.
Why He Chose Willow Care.
A decline in health led Chuck to our short-term rehabilitation and long-term care community. We’re located minutes from Hannibal Regional Hospital. We were also his first choice because his niece worked here.
He said he would not want to live anywhere else. Asked if there is anything he wishes he would have accomplished in his life, Chuck said, “Running Willow Care.”
He is proudest of his achievements in life. “Opportunities are there if you make something out of them,” he said. “And I did.”
